Trezor.io/start — Get Started with Your Trezor Device
Quick, secure setup instructions and best practices to get your Trezor hardware wallet up and protecting your crypto in minutes.
What to expect out of the box
Inside your package you’ll typically find the Trezor device, a USB (or USB-C) cable, recovery seed card, and simple instructions. Before you begin, make sure you have a clean computer and a reliable internet connection. Never plug your Trezor into an unknown or public computer.
Step-by-step setup
1. Visit Trezor.io/start
Open your browser and go to trezor.io/start. Follow the official prompts — do not use search results or third-party links. This page guides you to install the official Trezor Suite or use the web setup flow.
2. Connect & initialize
Plug the device into your computer using the supplied cable. Create a new wallet and set a strong PIN. The device will display numbers/letters for PIN entry — always enter them on the Trezor device when prompted, not on your computer screen.
3. Write down your recovery seed
Write the recovery seed (24 words for most Trezor models) exactly as shown on the card provided. Store it offline in a safe place — this seed is the only backup of your funds.
4. Install apps & manage coins
Open Trezor Suite or approved wallet integrations to add accounts, receive coins, or exchange. Always verify transaction details on the device screen before approving.
Security best practices
- Buy only from official distributors or trezor.io.
- Never share your recovery seed or PIN with anyone.
- Keep your recovery seed offline and consider a fireproof/waterproof storage option.
- Verify firmware updates and only install updates from Trezor’s official sources.
